Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said Sunday he will present U.S. President Joe Biden with a plan developed by his government to restrain Iran when the two leaders meet in Washington later this week.
“I’m telling President Biden the time has come to stop Iran, not to throw them a lifeline in the form of a nuclear deal, that has already expired,” Bennett said.
Speaking at a cabinet meeting, Bennet said that he will present to Biden a plan to curb Iran in terms of “both the nuclear aspect and the regional aggression aspect.”
Bennett will arrive in Washington with a small delegation, which will be allowed out of the hotel only for official meetings. In addition to Biden, Bennett is expected to meet with journalists and think tanks.
Bennett said that after his return from the U.S., German Chancellor Angela Merkel and other German officials will visit Israel and that he will soon meet with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sissi to “improve and expand regional relationships.” The prime minister added that Israel’s ties with Jordan are improving after “years in which [they] were in crisis.”
