Is this the year Trump bombs Iran?

It is a remarkable offer: The United States, Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy said on the weekend, is prepared to end Iran’s international isolation and normalise relations if it gives up its ambition to build nuclear weapons.
“Our signal to Iran is let’s sit down and see if we can, through dialogue, through diplomacy, get to the right place,” Steve Witkoff, Mr Trump’s envoy, told Fox News. “If we can, we are prepared to do that. And if we can’t, the alternative is not a great alternative.”
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his advisors might be forgiven for getting whiplash.
Just days earlier, Donald Trump sent a very different kind of message – a gauntlet, thrown down by nuclear-capable heavy bombers.
At least 53 people were killed when American B-2 jets struck Houthi rebels in Yemen last weekend.
“Every shot fired by the Houthis will be looked upon from this point forward, as being a shot fired from the weapons and leadership of IRAN,” Mr Trump announced on social media. “And IRAN will be held responsible, and suffer the consequences, and those consequences will be dire!”
